An Interesting Turn of Events…

Both Comic Book Resources and Newsarama are covering the story, so I won’t go into details. I wouldn’t be able to sum up all that legalese anyway.

What it boils down to is this: the Siegel estate now owns half of the copyright for Action Comics #1 (and all of the Superman information published within). DC/Time Warner are going to appeal, naturally.

This article brings up an interesting thought. In the not so distant future, is DC going to lose Superman to the public domain, or will Congress get bribed into extending the rights further (*cough*Disney*cough*)?

I wonder if this will set a precedent and if we’ll see all sorts of other creators come out and sue for their creations.
