The Cover Up: Executive Assistant Iris #4

I’ve been following Joe Benitez’s work since I first saw his art at Top Cow. I’m pretty sure I still have those two issues of Codename: Stryke Force he did. His work on The Darkness was some of the best that character’s ever had.

After he wrapped up his Wraithborn series for Wildstorm, he had a few fill-in jobs for DC, and now he’s finishing up the remaining issues of the late Michael Turner’s Soulfire series.

Here are the four interlocking variants for Executive Assistant Iris, an Aspen production created by David Wohl and the aforementioned Turner. Benitez has always been good at drawing attractive, but not disproportionate female characters as well as intricate designs (as you can see by the rose work on the second character). I’d like to see Joe do more interior comic book work, and I hope he doesn’t go the route of other artists, foregoing comics for other industries and the occasional cover or two.
