Part of the awesomeness that is City of Heroes is the costume generator. There are a ton of great options to play around with that just put some other games to shame. The costume generator can easily occupy many hours of your life. From this fun, altoholicism is born.
It didn’t take long for me to fill in many of my character slots over the twelve or so servers. A lot of it was just my having an idea for a character and wanting to see if I could realize it within the mechanics of the game.
Before I knew it, I was getting bored with the game. This, of course, was my own damn fault. Every time I made a new hero or villain I had to start from the beginning, and ended up doing the same content over and over again.
Combine this with the sense that there wasn’t a lot of low level content available from Mission Architect users, and that’s where I got the idea for “Heroics 101″, a story arc dedicated to the lowbies for altoholics like myself.
I treated the arc like a training simulation run by a semi-retired superhero who liked to put his rookies through their paces. I spent a good day’s worth playing around with the Architect and testing my arc before publishing it, and now it’s out there for all to play. Just search for Arc ID #251421.
Feedback is very welcome!
If this turns out to be “successful”, I might work on a villain one next.
