I tried the whole resolutions thing last year, and did a so-so job of sticking to them. This would be a step in the right direction for me since I never thought much of making resolutions in the past. So, let’s take a look down memory lane.
#1: FINISH ACQUIRING ALL VOLUMES FOR INCOMPLETE SERIES I’ve got a lot of series that I’ve been buying this year, and many have gaps. I’d like to get those gaps filled before I switch to a “Complete Collections Only (well, mostly)” policy.
I don’t know if I managed to complete any of those unfinished series because I’ve sort of lost track of the anime world this year. I think I’ve bought maybe three anime DVDs this year (Blade of the Immortal volume 1, being one). This one can be loosely considered a success.
#2: NO MORE BLIND-BUYING I have blindly (never seen before; little to no knowledge of) bought more DVDs this year than any year before. For obvious financial reasons, this is not a good way to go about things. I need to drastically reduce my spending before something really bad happens. Besides, with services like Netflix and Rent Anime at my disposal, it should be much easier to make more informed purchases.
I consider this one a successful resolution. As an added bonus, I’ve extended it to my regular DVD purchasing, too. Netflix has been quite an asset through all of this. Through it I have discovered that I don’t like You’re Under Arrest enough to buy (which I might’ve done before I fell away from anime), and I’ve been able to see Evangelion 1.01, Monster, and half of Zegapain, which I might have also bought at some point.
#3: WATCH/READ MORE, BUY LESS This ties in to resolution #2. I’ve acquired a massive backlog of both anime and manga this year. My room looks like a mini TRSI warehouse! I need to actually start watching all the stuff I’ve bought, and concentrate less on acquiring more stuff.
Uber-FAIL on this one. My room still looks like a miniature warehouse, and I’ve only just recently dipped into some of my older piles of anime. I have too much stuff.
#4: FOLLOW WINTER SEASON OF SHOWS I wouldn’t mind dabbling in episodic blogging, but in order to do that, I need to pay closer attention to current series. Besides, a new Fighting Spirit series starts this month.
Another failed resolution. I managed to download a couple episodes of winter shows, but I never got around to watching them. Sorry, Ippo. 
#5: WRITE BETTER BLOG ENTRIES I know my entries could use a lot of work, and I realize that my writing doesn’t seem to encourage a lot of comments from most of the viewers/readers that come across this site. I’d like to be able to increase the traffic and interactivity of this site within the aniblogging community, so I’ll be working on posts that don’t suck so much.
I’m pretty sure my blog entries haven’t gotten any more interesting, so I’ll toss this one in the fail pile, too.
I’m looking at three failed resolutions out of five. That’s not very encouraging…
