Okay, I'm an artbox whore
Posted on October 3, 2008 | View CommentsIt started slowly, as these things often tend to do, as I browsed my recommendations on amazon.com. If you're willing to go for "previously owned" merchandise, you can score some amazing deals. I went ahead and bought the artbox editions of Chrono Crusade, Macross, and Gantz (which had two!) for under $10 each. What do I get out of it? The satisfaction of seeing my series in one nifty art-covered box - and some duplicate DVDs. The duplicates aren't a big deal. I just sell them on amazon's marketplace. -
Animail – Saturday edition
Posted on September 27, 2008 | View CommentsThis perplexes me. It's too soon for the order I had shipped to my house (instead of work) to arrive. It's a decent-sized box, too... Akira on Blu ray!
Posted on September 27, 2008 | View CommentsBandai Visual, via AV Watch, has announced a release date at long last for the classic Akira. Akira was one of the first releases solicited by Bandai Visual in Japan when they got into the high definition game but it was put off indefinitely. The new release is set for a February 20th, 2009 date in Japan as well as a February 24th, 2009 release date for the US. -
See men, it's magical!
Posted on September 13, 2008 | View CommentsAll ADV Films merchandise is on sale at TRSI, so I've been trying to sample as many titles as I can before deciding whether or not to place a few orders. Thanks to the wonders of the interweb, I've been able to sample the first episodes of Maburaho, Air TV, Jing, King of Bandits, and [L/R] Licensed by Royalty. -
Not-so-newsworthy news!
Posted on September 4, 2008 | View CommentsI finished watching s-CRY-ed for the second time through, and I think I actually enjoyed it a little more this time. I'm not sure why, but I don't recall ever seeing those last two episodes... -
Madhouse to Produce Wolverine and Iron Man Anime
Posted on August 26, 2008 | View CommentsMarvel Entertainment announced today that they're partnering up with the well known Madhouse to create some new series based off of Marvel Comics characters for the Japanese market. Similar to what was done by Gonzo with Witchblade, the series will be done in a way that fits into the Japanese anime sensibilities which means they may not retain a lot of familiar elements that the comics fans are familiar with.
