The Longbox Chronicles – New Comics for May 28, 2009
Posted on May 29, 2009 | View CommentsIt was a light week as far as new releases go, and I couldn't even find all of what I wanted to get (I even pre-ordered one!). First, I picked up the latest issue of Previews. I managed to flip through all of the premier publishers. Since that's ground I've already covered in previous posts, I don't think I'll bother going into detail here. Green Lantern #41 DC Comics $2.99 This issue continues the -
The Longbox Chronicles – The Sword #3-5
Posted on May 22, 2009 | View CommentsDara Brighton was a paraplegic for the last five years. I say "was" because she isn't any longer. The sword healed her. The sword enables her to do other things, too. But I'm getting ahead of myself. -
The Longbox Chronicles – New comics for May 20, 2009
Posted on May 21, 2009 | View CommentsI did a good job of keeping to my $20/week budget yesterday. Unfortunately, the haul was only so-so. Beware, there may be spoilers ahead.Batman: Battle for the Cowl #3 DC Comics I'm severely disappointed that this series ended the way everyone knew it would, with Dick Grayson becoming Batman. I'd seen character designs on the net long before the first issue was ever published, and I remember them being fun and interesting costume designs, especially for such a run-down concept as the modern super hero.
While Tim Levins art never disappoints, J.Torres' story comes to an abrupt end. It makes me wonder if this was supposed

DVD Review: Strait Jacket
Posted on November 23, 2008 | View CommentsIn a world where sorcery and science co-exist, the power of magic comes with a price: humans who do not take proper precautions are transformed into horrific demons. Those who destroy these demons - and run the highest risk of all - are tactical sorcerists known as 'Strait Jackets'. But when terrorists unleash a plague of demonic carnage, the Sorcery Management Bureau must enlist unlicensed assassin Leiot Steinberg to stop the slaughter. Even if this rogue killer and a mysterious young girl can end the outbreak, will they be able to face their own dark secrets? Monsters, murder and redemption collide in this explosive anime written by Ichiro Sakaki (Scrapped Princess) and based on his popular novel. -
Manga Review: Golgo 13 vol. 2: Hydra
Posted on November 16, 2008 | View CommentsA couple of weeks back I was reading my newly discovered Otaku USA magazine. Inside was an interesting article about this character, Golgo 13. He was described as this James Bond-like badass assassin that had no qualms about bedding a woman before the job.
